<\/span>What is Session recording?<\/span><\/h2>\n

Session recording (or session replay) is the exact replay of a visitors’ interactions (e.g. clicks, mouse movements, form fills) on your website. Capturly will record all of these so that you can replay and analyze them later on in order to optimize your website and avoid future bottlenecks in your conversion funnel. Exploring how visitors interact with your website can give you valuable information to prevent problems, that may occur in the future.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>How can I use Capturly’s Session recording feature?<\/span><\/h2>\n

After installing a small piece of code<\/a> into your site, you have access to Capturly\u2019s features including session recordings. <\/span>Session recordings are generated automatically from your past visitor data, right after the tracking code is installed on your website.<\/span><\/p>\n

After you have installed Capturly\u2019s tracking code on your website, all you have to do is follow these steps:<\/span><\/p>\nSTEP 1<\/strong><\/span> Log in to your Capturly account<\/span><\/p>\n

STEP 2<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0Select the website you wish to check the recordings of<\/span><\/p>\n

STEP 3<\/strong><\/span><\/span>\u00a0Select\u00a0 Recordings<\/strong> <\/span> from the left menu<\/p>\n

STEP 4<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0Select a page from the table and click on the corresponding\u00a0 Play<\/strong> <\/span><\/span>\u00a0button on the right.<\/span><\/p>\n

Heads up:<\/strong> On Capturly’s Session Recording panel, you can select the speed of your playback, and choose to skip pauses.<\/div><\/div>\n

Heads up:<\/strong> Filters allow you to narrow down your search. You can view your recordings from a specific period of time, source or even from a specific Google campaign.<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/span>Why I can\u2019t see the full IP address of my visitors?<\/span><\/h2>\n

At Capturly, we honor the privacy of our users and operate in a manner compliant with GDPR and CCPA. Therefore, the IP addresses of tracked visitors are always suppressed before being stored. In the case of IPv4 addresses, we set the last octet to zeroes, while in the case of IPv6 addresses, we set the last 80 bits to zeroes.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>How to add custom tags to my session replays?<\/span><\/h2>\n

With Capturly\u2019s tagging feature, you can mark specific recordings. This way you can categorize and filter replays with ease.<\/span><\/p>\n

To apply a tag to a session recording all you have to do is simply follow these steps:<\/span><\/p>\nSTEP 1<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0Log into your Capturly account<\/span><\/p>\nSTEP 2<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0Go to\u00a0 Recordings<\/strong> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

STEP 3<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0Play a recording and mark it by clicking on the\u00a0 Add new tag<\/strong> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Once added, the\u00a0 tag value<\/strong> <\/span><\/span>\u00a0will appear next to the Add new tag button on the session replay panel. Once the panel is closed the custom tag will be visible on the list also. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>How to delete my tags?<\/span><\/h2>\n

You may<\/span> add as many tags as you want<\/b> and <\/span>to remove a tag<\/b> all you have to do is simply click on the small \u2018<\/span>x<\/b>\u2019 marked on the image above.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>What is the Advanced Masking feature in Capturly?<\/span><\/h2>\n

The advanced masking feature in Capturly is designed to protect user privacy by default. It automatically hides the contents of input fields on a website. This is particularly important for safeguarding sensitive information. However, there are instances where you might want to disable this feature, such as when you want to record interactions with search bars or filters.<\/p>\n

Even when the advanced masking feature is turned off, Capturly is designed not to record fields related to credit card and password information, maintaining a level of privacy protection.<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/span>How to use the Advanced Masking feature?<\/span><\/h2>\nSTEP 1<\/strong><\/span> Log into your Capturly account.<\/span><\/p>\n

STEP 2<\/strong><\/span> In the top menu bar, click on the profile and select the Settings<\/a> option.<\/span><\/p>\n

STEP 3<\/strong><\/span> <\/span>In the left-hand menu, under Website settings<\/strong>, click on the name of the website you want to edit.<\/p>\n

STEP 4<\/strong><\/span> <\/span>Navigate to the Input settings section, then switch the toggle from Default masking to Custom masking<\/strong>. With this step, text entered in all input fields will appear in the recordings, except for passwords and credit card data.<\/p>\n

\"The<\/p>\n

STEP 5<\/strong><\/span> <\/span>Enter the URLs of the pages with the input fields you want to check, and press the Collect fields<\/strong> button. You can then choose specific input fields to track by clicking Add to tracks. <\/strong>This action will enable Capturly to automatically tag the recordings, and these tags will be visible both in the recordings list and during playback.<\/p>\n

+ 1<\/strong><\/span> <\/span>It is possible to filter the recordings based on the automatically added tags. For example, if playback of a specific customer’s session is needed, then in the Recordings menu, by choosing the Filters option, it is necessary to specify the customer’s email address, order number, etc.<\/p>\n

<\/span>How does Capturly distribute my recordings in a month?<\/span><\/h2>\n

By Default, Capturly will distribute your recordings evenly between your websites and visitors during a month. Rule settings\u00a0can be changed<\/a> according to your preference from the\u00a0 Rule settings<\/strong> <\/span> <\/span>menu.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>What are Rule settings?<\/span><\/h2>\n

With Rule settings, you have the opportunity to choose the way Capturly manages your recordings. You have access to the following recording methods:<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Default – Capturly will distribute your recordings evenly between your websites<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Record everything – With this option enabled Capturly will record every traffic on your website<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Don\u2019t record – This will turn your recordings off<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
    Heads up:<\/strong> In the middle, you can see your remaining recordings available. Your websites are being listed, as well as the current Rule setting for each. By Default, Capturly will distribute your Recordings evenly between your websites.<\/div><\/div>\n

    <\/span>How can I change Rule settings?<\/span><\/h2>\n

    To access this feature, all you have to do is follow the steps below:<\/span><\/p>\nSTEP 1<\/strong><\/span> Log into your Capturly account<\/span><\/p>\n

    STEP 2<\/strong><\/span> Click on your profile on the top right section of the screen and choose  Settings<\/strong> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    In case you wish to record everything on a specific website:<\/span><\/p>\n

    STEP 4<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0Click on the purple\u00a0 Edit<\/strong> <\/span><\/span>\u00a0button on the right<\/span><\/p>\n

    STEP 5<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0Under Preferred rule menu select  Record everything<\/strong> <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>option<\/span><\/p>\n

    Heads up:<\/strong> At this point, you have the option to set a Recording limit by typing a number of your desire. Once this value has been reached, the rule will automatically set itself back to Default<\/strong>. When this happens, you will be notified via email.<\/div><\/div>\n

    STEP 6<\/strong><\/span> After you click on the  Save<\/strong> <\/span><\/span>\u00a0button, Capturly starts to record every action on that website.<\/span><\/p>\n

    If you don\u2019t want to have recordings enabled for one or more websites, you can simply choose the\u00a0 Don’t record<\/strong> <\/span> o<\/span>ption from the dropdown menu under  Preferred rule<\/strong> <\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

    <\/span>How to record every visitor on my website?<\/span><\/h2>\n

    By Default, Capturly will distribute your recordings evenly between your websites. To record everything on your website follow these steps:<\/span><\/p>\n

    STEP 1<\/strong><\/span><\/span>\u00a0Log into your Capturly account<\/span><\/p>\n

    STEP 2<\/strong><\/span><\/span>\u00a0Go to\u00a0 Settings<\/strong> <\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/b>and choose\u00a0 Rule settings<\/strong> <\/span><\/span>\u00a0from the left menu<\/span><\/p>\n

    STEP 3<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0Click on the  Edit<\/strong> <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>button on the right<\/span><\/p>\n

    STEP 4<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0Select the\u00a0 Record everything<\/strong> <\/span> <\/span>option from the corresponding dropdown menu of the website<\/span><\/p>\n
