If you have your own goals, you can always keep them in mind and evaluate your website&#8217;s performance accordingly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-style:normal;font-weight:500\"><strong>S.M.A.R.T. goals<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The SMART in SMART goals stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound. These are the factors you should always keep in mind when setting and defining a goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Specific<\/strong>: Your goal needs to be clear and precise. It should answer the questions &#8220;what,&#8221; &#8220;why,&#8221; and &#8220;how.&#8221;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p><em>\u201cIncreasing the website&#8217;s conversion rate by optimizing the checkout process and improving the website&#8217;s loading speed to get more revenue.\u201d<\/em><gwmw style=\"display:none;\"><gwmw style=\"display:none;\"><gwmw style=\"display:none;\"><gwmw style=\"display:none;\"><gwmw style=\"display:none;\"><\/gwmw><\/gwmw><gwmw style=\"display:none;\"><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>As you see in the example this goal answers all the important questions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>What? \u2192 Increasing the website\u2019s conversion rate<gwmw style=\"display:none;\"><gwmw style=\"display:none;\"><gwmw style=\"display:none;\"><gwmw style=\"display:none;\"><\/gwmw><\/gwmw><gwmw style=\"display:none;\"><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How? \u2192 By optimizing the checkout process and improving the website&#8217;s loading speed.<gwmw style=\"display:none;\"><gwmw style=\"display:none;\"><\/gwmw><gwmw style=\"display:none;\"><\/gwmw><\/gwmw><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Why? \u2192 To get more revenue.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Measurable:<\/strong> Your goal should have a way of measuring success. This could be a certain number of clicks, conversions, or other actions taken on your webpage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s illustrate what I mean under measurable in the previous example with one additional piece of information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p><em>\u201cIncreasing the website&#8217;s conversion rate<strong> by 10%<\/strong> by optimizing the checkout process and improving the website&#8217;s loading speed to get more revenue.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Attainable<\/strong>: Your goal should be realistic and attainable. It&#8217;s important to set goals that are challenging, but also achievable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It would make no sense to try to increase the conversion rate in the example by 50%, as this would be a difficult and therefore not really achievable goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Relevant:<\/strong> Your goal should be relevant to your business objectives and align with your overall strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the goal of increasing revenue, increasing the conversion rate is a relevant goal, since the two are causally related.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Time-bound:<\/strong> Your goal should have a specific deadline or timeframe for completion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let&#8217;s improve even further on our existing goal!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p><em>\u201cIncreasing the website&#8217;s conversion rate by 10% <strong>within the next 6 months<\/strong> by optimizing the checkout process and improving the website&#8217;s loading speed to get more revenue.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The time frame of 6 months gives our goal a more tangible reach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_determine_what_figures_are_good_for_your_website\"><\/span><strong>How to determine what figures are good for your website?<\/strong><gwmw style=\"display:none;\"><gwmw style=\"display:none;\"><gwmw style=\"display:none;\"><\/gwmw><gwmw style=\"display:none;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Even though I think you can now set proper goals, I&#8217;m sure you still have concerns about what is a good value for a metric and what is not! Looking at industry benchmarks will give you an insight into what metrics are the most important.
