Change Keyword Targeting<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is my favorite trick for growing my new sites or targeting a difficult keyword in my existing authority website.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When you start a new website, just target all the long-tail keywords with low volume and very low difficulty. Once you receive traffic with these keywords, replace these keywords with medium or high difficulty keywords but high monthly volume.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I will explain this with an example-<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Suppose I want to target a keyword &#8211; \u2018online jobs\u2019 or \u2018online jobs for students\u2019. If you research these keywords in a keyword research tool, you will find it difficult to rank.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4196 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/capturly.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/guestpost1.jpg\" alt=\"seo trick - keyword targeting for online jobs\" width=\"703\" height=\"390\" srcset=\"https:\/\/capturly.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/guestpost1.jpg 703w, https:\/\/capturly.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/guestpost1-300x166.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 703px) 100vw, 703px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But if you check other similar long-tail keywords, you will not find it difficult.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">E.g.:\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Online jobs for college students from home\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">OR\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Part-time online jobs for students from home<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So instead of targeting \u2018online jobs\u2019 or \u2018online jobs for students\u2019 keywords, I will target the above keywords.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Therefore, I will write a post targeting the above long-tail keywords with low volume and low difficulty.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But here the condition will be-<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You should write a long and detailed post.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This post should be much better than the first-page competitor.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your post must have high engagement.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I will do better on-page SEO and build a few backlinks to get a fast ranking with these keywords.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once I receive the traffic, Google will see the engagement with my post. You need to check your analytics to confirm the same. If your posts are not engaging enough, you are not going to benefit from this trick.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, if you don\u2019t see good engagement through Google Analytics, you need to work again on your post.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now it\u2019s time to target medium or high difficulty keywords in the same post. E.g online jobs, online jobs for students.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You need to update your posts a little and optimize them for new keywords.\u00a0 Also, you need to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outreachmama.com\/how-to-build-high-quality-backlinks\/\">build backlinks<\/a> for the new keywords.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As Google is already finding engagement with the previous keywords, you will receive ranking with the new keywords as well.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I have done various experiments on this and found, the trick works most of the time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you target such keywords directly in a new website or even a medium authority website, it will be much difficult to rank for these keywords in Google search.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You need to work very hard and create a huge number of backlinks to rank such keywords if you target them directly in your posts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But, it\u2019s easier if you go this way.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">P.S. &#8211; You can\u2019t update your URL when you are updating your keywords so you need to choose the main keyword (e.g. online jobs in this case) in your URL.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2_Search_Console_Keywords\"><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2. Search Console Keywords<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is also an excellent trick to grow your search traffic. You need to login into your search console and find all these keywords that are ranking between 6th to 15th position on Google.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are the steps-<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click on <\/span><b>Performance<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Tab<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Select all the four options &#8211; <\/span><b>Total Clicks, Total Impressions, Average CTR, and Average Position<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click on the filter and select <\/span><b>\u2018Position\u2019<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and use <\/span><b>Smaller than 15<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You will find all those keywords that are ranking between 1st and 15th position. But you need to focus on those keywords that are ranking between 6th and 15th place.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I chose position 6th to15th because these are the keywords that do not receive traffic but are easy to shift to the top 5 on the first page with some tricks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let\u2019s see how-<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You will find two types of keywords between the 6th to 15th positions.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Keywords that you can target within the same posts.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Keywords that are difficult to target within the same posts.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For example &#8211; when I was targeting similar \u2018online jobs\u2019 keywords in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/moneyconnexion.com\/online-jobs.htm\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">one of my posts on MoneyConnexion<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, I found that my post is also ranking with the keywords like \u2018online jobs in India\u2019 and \u2018online jobs for teens\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4195 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/capturly.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/guest-post-2.jpg\" alt=\"seo trick - google search console performance menu\" width=\"683\" height=\"398\" srcset=\"https:\/\/capturly.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/guest-post-2.jpg 683w, https:\/\/capturly.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/guest-post-2-300x175.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was difficult to target these keywords in the existing post as this post was for college students and I was targeting a global audience.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In that case, you need to create a new post to target such keywords for a specific country or specific age.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are the steps you need to take to rank high for these keywords.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Update the posts and optimize the whole posts with these keywords with good volume but ranking between 6th and 15th.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Create new posts for the keywords you could not target in the existing posts.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Try to target these keywords within the meta-description. That makes a big impact.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Try to add the internal links for the new keywords from all the relevant posts.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Build a few backlinks for the new keywords.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>By following these simple steps, you will get a ranking within a few weeks if not days.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3. Expired Domain Backlinks<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thousands of domains expire every day and some of them are really valuable. I am not talking about the value of the domain name but the quality of the domain when someone was running a website on that.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When such domains expire, there are hundreds or thousands of backlinks still pointing to these domains.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My favorite website for researching such domains is ExpiredDomains.net. You can find valuable domains for any niche.<\/span>\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4194 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/capturly.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/guest-post-3.jpg\" alt=\"seo trick - Expiredomains.net\" width=\"694\" height=\"398\" srcset=\"https:\/\/capturly.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/guest-post-3.jpg 694w, https:\/\/capturly.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/guest-post-3-300x172.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 694px) 100vw, 694px\" \/><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are the steps you need to follow-<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Find the best-expired domains in your niche with a large number of backlinks<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Find the backlinks of these domains through any keyword research tool like ahrefs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Outreach the website owners to replace the broken backlinks with yours.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It&#8217;s a much easier way of finding broken backlinks and there are high chances of success as the website is no longer working.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are a few things you need to consider before outreaching-<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A\/B test your outreach email script and find out the best script that\u2019s working in your niche.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Try to send the email as the 3rd user or the reader of his blog, and inform him about the broken link and refer to your backlink as the replacement. It works most of the time.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use archive.org to see the content of the linked page. Try to add similar but better content on your website. It will be easy for the website owner to replace the broken link with yours because the content is similar, fresh, and better.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Conclusion\"><\/span><b>Conclusion<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These SEO tricks always worked for me to rank my websites on the first page of the search engine.
